India

IN SEARCH OF TIGER

2 DAYS
(Minimum two participants)

It’s one thing to observe the tigers lounging in a zoo, knowing that these magnificent predators get their breakfast, lunch and dinner delivered like room service. Yet it’s another thing to watch as a Bengal tiger rest by the swamp with nothing between you and the striped animal other than the windshield of your safari jeep.

India is home to a great diversity of wild animals, including the famous Bengal tigers, Nilgiri langur (a type of Old World monkeys), Beddome’s toad, Nilgai antelope, Asiatic lion, and Indian rhinoceros. Many of the animals are near extinction. For the last fifty years, India has made a conscious effort to preserve the natural wildlife it has been gifted with. Twenty-five wetlands are registered under the Ramsar Convention; India is part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves; and Project Tiger, found in 1972, has been trying to preserve the natural habitat of the tigers in India.
