10 - Day Italian Shrines: Independent Tour

(Minimum 2 Persons)

Since the foundation of Christianity the country of Italy has played a pivotal role from Paul’s first teachings to the institutionalization of Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire. Let us embark on this historic journey from the mysteries of the catacombs to the splendor of St. Peter’s Basilica for a trip truly of a lifetime.

DAY 1 - DEPART FROM USA
We leave from U.S. gateway cities for Rome, Italy, which is also known as The Eternal City. Meals onboard your flight will be provided.

DAY 2 - ROME
A tour escort will greet us upon arrival in Rome and assist with our transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at our leisure for personal sightseeing, shopping or relaxation.
Dinner and overnight. (B,D)

DAY 3 - ROME
After breakfast, the local guide will take us to Vatican City. Here we will visit the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and the Gallery of Tapestries. The visit ends at St. Peter’s Square where we will celebrate mass. The remainder of the day is at our leisure. Dinner and overnight. (B,D)

DAY 4 - ROME / ASSISI

After breakfast, we begin the journey through the Umbria region to the pilgrimage center of Assisi, where St. Francis tended the poor and sick. We will visit the tomb of St. Francis, celebrate mass, and explore the quaint hilltop birthplace of the saint. Here, we will also visit the Chapel, Portiuncola, the rose bush, and the cave where the saint retired for prayer. Lunch or a short rest can be taken at an outdoor café that has a view of an ancient Roman temple. Afterwards, we will go the Church of St. Clare to see the saint’s incorrupt . Body before dinner and retiring for the evening. (B,D)

DAY 5 - ASSISI / CASCIA / LORETO / ASSISI
We will leave early and head for Loreto. En route, we will celebrate mass at Cascia, location of the Eucharistic Miracle and the Sanctuary of the Saint Rita, the saint of the impossible. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Loreto to visit the Holy House of Nazareth and the beautiful Madonna of Loreto followed by transfer back to Assisi for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

DAY 6 - ASSISI / FLORENCE / ASSISI
In Florence, a local expert will provide a leisurely paced walking-tour featuring the Piazza Del Duomo and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, one of the largest cathedrals in the Christian world. There, we will enjoy spare moments in the “Renaissance City” before returning to Assisi. (B,D)

DAY 7 - ASSISI / SIENA / ORVIETO / ASSISI
We will depart this morning to Siena, the birthplace of Saints Catherine and Bernardine. It is also one of Italy’s loveliest medieval cities. Here we will stroll the Piazza Del Campo and visit the Cathedral and the Basilica of St. Francis and the Basilica of St. Dominic. Then we will continue to Orvieto to see the cathedral, where we will celebrate mass and view the holy corporal containing the blood from the Eucharistic Miracle of Orvieto. Then we will leave Orvieto for Assisi.

DAY 8 - ASSISI / ROME
This morning we depart to Rome where we will embark on a tour focusing on “Christian Rome”. We will stop for a visit at three major basilicas: St. Mary Major; the Basilica of St. John in Lateran; and St. Paul Outside the Wall. This evening, we will have a special farewell dinner. Overnight (B,D)

DAY 9 - ROME
After breakfast, we will depart from Fiumicino Airport for a home bound flight or to your next adventure.
